Namibia

Namibia is a land of geographical extremes and beauty. The spectacular parks of Nambia are among the most unique in Africa.

Namib Naukluft Park

Sossusvlei Sand Dunes, one of the most photographed spots in the world, comprising of beautiful sand dunes which are orange/red in color with the morning sun. Wilderness Safaris has an incredible camp situated close to Sossusvlei - Sossusvlei Wilderness Camp - We recommend a 2 night stay.

Damaraland
Damaraland

Situated on the north west coast of Namibia offers a very strange landscape of fog-bound coast lined with shipwrecks, gravel plains, dunes in the north, sand and persistent wind. Wilderness Safaris has a wonderful camp, Damaraland, which offers access to the Skeleton Coast and hopefully for sightings of the rare Desert Elephant. There is also a wonderful fly-in safari offered by Skeleton Coast Safaris.

Etosha National Park

This is one of the grandest and most important of all national parks in Africa. The pan alone is a large white, ghostly lake dazzling with heat waves and mirages for most of the year, filling from December to April and attracts a large assortment of bird life including pelicans and flamingos. The lake typically dries in March and the verges of the lake are well treed and grassed with several springs providing water for game animals. It is quite incredible.
Accommodations vary from the three national park camps (quite simple and run down), to Wilderness Safaris Ongava Lodge situated on the Southern boundary of Etosha and Mokuti Lodge, a larger lodge situated on the eastern border of Etosha National Park.

There is more to Namibia that we have not mentioned such as:

  • Excursions with bushmen
  • Swakopmund
  • Okonjima Guest Farm
  • Windhoek
  • Walvis Bay
  • (please contact us to receive a detailed and customized travel package)

  • Will vary depending on Southern or Northern Namibia but average temperatures:
  • Summer months (rainy season) typically November - February...low of 65 degrees to a high of 100degrees.
  • Winter months (dry season) typically June - August...low of 40 degrees to a high of 75 degrees.

The winter months or perhaps Spring and Fall are the best times to go. The summer months can have extensive rainfall and makes driving on the sand roads very difficult and a 4 wheel drive car becomes necessary if you are self driving. Fly in safaris are offered all year round.

Please note, however, no matter when you choose to travel, we customize an itinerary to suite your requirements. We know the right camps for the right time of year to provide the best experience.
